<h4>Background</h4><i>Clostridioides difficile</i> ribotype (RT) 019/sequence type (ST) 67 strains belong to a hypervirulent lineage closely related to RT027/ST1; however, limited data are available for hypervirulent clade 2 lineages in Japan.
