Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are the most common human sarcoma and are initiated by activating mutations in the <i>KIT</i> or <i>PDGFRA</i> receptor tyrosine kinases. Chromosome 22q deletions are well-recognized frequent abnormalities in GISTs, occurring in ∼50% of GISTs.
