Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common cause of chronic liver disease in the West. Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is the progressive form of NAFLD and can lead to cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, and is associated with increased cardiovascular risks.
