<i>Staphylococcus aureus</i> has acquired resistance to antibiotics since their first use. The <i>S. aureus</i> protein NorA, an efflux pump belonging to the major facilitator superfamily (MFS), contributes to resistance to fluoroquinolones (e.g., ciprofloxacin), biocides, dyes, quaternary ammonium compounds, and antiseptics.
