Knowledge of population structure, connectivity, and effective population size remains limited for many marine apex predators, including the bull shark <i>Carcharhinus leucas</i>. This large-bodied coastal shark is distributed worldwide in warm temperate and tropical waters, and uses estuaries and rivers as nurseries.
