This study evaluated the psychometric properties of a Chinese form of the Feminist Identity Composite (FIC). A total of 2,334 Chinese adult women completed the scale for this study. Project description:BACKGROUND:The purpose of the present study is to develop the Moral Identity Test (MIT) which measures the moral identity of primary school children. METHODS:The present study was designed as survey research and 516 primary school children were included in the sample. Data were analysed with corrected item-total correlation, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), internal consistency analysis, convergent validity analysis, and item response theory (IRT). RESULTS:As a result of the data analysis, it was found that the MIT consists of one construct with ten items and its internal consistency coefficient is .93. CONCLUSIONS:It was concluded that the MIT can generate reliable and valid results in measuring the moral identity of primary school children whose ages vary between 7 and 11 years.

Project description:The study on developmental dyslexia (DD) has fairly matured in the past decades, even when there is a lack of a standardized and convenient instrument for dyslexia in the Chinese population. The purpose of this study was to assess the reliability and validity of the Dyslexia Checklist for Chinese Children (DCCC), which was administered to Chinese students in primary school. A total of 545 students from grades 2 through 6 were recruited in Wuhan to participate in this study. We used confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to evaluate the structure validity of the DCCC. Concurrent validity was determined via correlations between the DCCC and the verbal comprehension index (VCI), and Chinese achievement. The reliability of the DCCC was assessed via test-retest reliability and internal consistency. The CFA suggested that the first order model with eight factors and 55 items fit the data well (RMSEA = 0.057, CFI = 0.930, and TLI = 0.925). The DCCC was negatively associated with VCI (r = -0.218) and Chinese achievement (r = -0.372). The test-retest reliability of the DCCC was 0.734, and the internal consistency of all subscales was above 0.752. The DCCC thus proved to have adequate validity and reliability to screen Chinese dyslexia among students in grades 2 through 6.

Project description:ObjectiveTo adapt the Appropriateness Evaluation Protocol (AEP) to the specific settings of health care in China and to validate the Chinese version AEP (C-AEP).MethodsForward and backward translations were carried out to the original criteria. Twenty experts participated in the consultancy to form a preliminary version of the C-AEP. To ensure applicability, tests of reliability and validity were performed on 350 admissions and 3,226 hospital days of acute myocardial infraction patients and total hip replacement patients in two tertiary hospitals by two C-AEP reviewers and two physician reviewers. Overall agreement, specific agreement, and Cohen's Kappa were calculated to compare the concordance of decisions between pairs of reviewers to test inter-rater reliability and convergent validity. The use of "overrides" and opinions of experts were recorded as measurements of content validity. Face validity was tested through collecting perspectives of nonprofessionals. Sensitivity, specificity, and predictive values were also reported.ResultsThere are 14 admission and 24 days of care criteria in the initial version of C-AEP. Kappa coefficients indicate substantial agreement between reviewers: with regard to inter-rater reliability, Kappa (κ) coefficients are 0.746 (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.644-0.834) and 0.743 (95% CI 0.698-0.767) of admission and hospital days, respectively; for convergent validity, the κ statistics are 0.678 (95% CI 0.567-0.778) and 0.691 (95% CI 0.644-0.717), respectively. Overrides account for less than 2% of all judgments. Content validity and face validity were confirmed by experts and nonprofessionals, respectively. According to the C-AEP reviewers, 18.3% of admissions and 28.5% of inpatient days were deemed inappropriate.ConclusionsThe C-AEP is a reliable and valid screening tool in China's tertiary hospitals. The prevalence of inappropriateness is substantial in our research. To reduce inappropriate utilization, further investigation is needed to elucidate the reasons and risk factors for this inappropriateness.

Project description:Condyloma acuminata (CA) is a sexually transmitted disease that affects quality of life (QOL). CECA10 is an English-language questionnaire for assessing QOL in patients with CA, but there is no equivalent in China. This study aimed to develop a validated and reliable Chinese version of CECA10.The Chinese CECA10 was developed from the English version by forward translation, back translation, comparison with the original, cultural adjustments, and a pre-test (5 patients). The Chinese CECA10 and EuroQol Five Dimensions Three Level Questionnaire (EQ-5D-3L) was administered to patients with CA. Content validity (item/scale content validity indexes, I-CVI/S-CVI), test-retest reliability (intraclass coefficient, ICC), internal consistency (Cronbach α), criterion validity (comparison with the Dermatology Life Quality Index, DLQL, using Spearman correlation analysis), construct validity (exploratory factor analysis), and discriminant validity (between subgroups based on number of warts, number of recurrences, or number of sites involved) were assessed.The Chinese CECA10 had good test-retest reliability (ICC = 0.98, P < .001), internal consistency (Cronbach α values of 0.88, 0.84, and 0.83 for the total questionnaire, psychological dimension, and sexual dimension, respectively), content validity (I-CVI = 1 for all items), and criterion validity (r = -0.50, P < .001). Exploratory factor analysis extracted 2 factors with a cumulative contribution of 61.75%; the factor loading with each item was >0.4. Discriminant validity was not high. The mean CECA10 and EQ-VAS scores of 211 patients with CA (28.19 ± 7.16 years; 139 males) were 34.56 ± 19.01 and 64.64 ± 19.28, respectively.The Chinese CECA10 has good reliability and validity for evaluating the QOL of Chinese patients with CA.

Project description:BackgroundThe Körperkoordinationstest Für Kinder (KTK) is a reliable and low-cost motor coordination test tool that has been used in several countries. However, whether the KTK is a reliable and valid instrument for use in Chinese children has not been assessed. Additionally, because the KTK was designed to incorporate locomotor, object control, and stability skills, and there is a lack of measurement tools that include stability skills assessment for Chinese children, the KTK's value and validity are worth discussing.MethodsA total of 249 primary school children (131 boys; 118 girls) aged 9-10 years from Shanghai were recruited in this study. Against the Test of Gross Motor Development-3 (TGMD-3), the concurrent validity of the KTK was assessed. We also tested the retest reliability and internal consistency of the KTK.ResultsThe test-retest reliability of the KTK was excellent (overall: r = 0.951; balancing backwards: r = 0.869; hopping for height: r = 0.918; jumping sideways: r = 0.877; moving sideways: r = 0.647). Except for the boys, the internal consistency of the KTK was higher than the acceptable level of Cronbach's α > 0.60 (overall: α = 0.618; boys: α = 0.583; girls: α = 0.664). Acceptable concurrent validity was found between the total scores for the KTK and TGMD-3 (overall: r = 0.420, p < 0.001; boys: r = 0.411, p < 0.001; girls: r = 0.437, p < 0.001).DiscussionThe KTK is a reliable instrument for assessing the motor coordination of children in China. As such, the KTK can be used to monitor the level of motor coordination in Chinese children.

Project description:To evaluate the reliability, validity, and responsiveness of the Chinese Learning Accomplishment Profile in China. 12,098 participants aged from 0 to 36 months from 30 provinces (mostly from Shanghai) in China were enrolled between 2013 and 2020. The reliability was reflected by Pearson correlation coefficients, Cronbach's alpha coefficients and standard errors; the validity was shown by the coefficients between the dimensions, and we also evaluated the responsiveness as a supplement to the validity. Reliability: in six domains among each subgroup, Pearson correlation coefficients between developmental age and chronological age ranged from 0.89 to 0.98, Cronbach's alpha coefficients from 0.71 to 0.99, and standard errors from 0.15 to 2.76. after controlling for chronological age, the correlation coefficients between the dimensions were between 0.18 and 0.78, and most of them were below 0.70. Responsiveness: developmental age of all domains obtained via the Chinese Learning Accomplishment Profile system changed significantly (p < 0.001) with time (gap of 1-3 months), and the standardized response mean ranged from 0.66 to 2.45. The Chinese Learning Accomplishment Profile is suitable for assessing children's development in Shanghai, but still needs confirmation when used in other provinces in China due to the great differences between regions in China.

Project description:The purpose of this study was to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Chinese version of the Revised Indebtedness Scale (IS-R-C) in mainland China. A total of 1057 university students participated in this study using a two-wave whole-group sampling method. Sample 1, consisting of 537 participants, was used for item analysis and exploratory factor analysis (EFA) of the Revised Indebtedness Scale (IS-R). Sample 2, comprising 520 participants, was used for confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), reliability analysis and gender invariance test. To assess criterion validity, the Social Avoidance and Distress Scale (SADS), the Renqing Questionnaire (RQQ) and the Subjective Well-being Scale (SWBS) were administered. The results of the item analysis and EFA indicated that the IS-R-C comprises 12 items, delineated into two dimensions: pressure to repay and requirements for interaction. CFA further substantiated this two-factor model for the IS-R-C (χ2/df = 4.24, RMSEA = 0.079, GFI = 0.94, NFI = 0.91, IFI = 0.93, TLI = 0.91, CFI = 0.93 and SRMR = 0.062). The total score of the IS-R-C exhibited a significant positive correlation with both the SADS score (r = 0.34, p < 0.001) and the RQQ score (r = 0.34, p < 0.001). Additionally, it demonstrated a negative correlation with the SWBS score (r = -0.09, p < 0.05). The Cronbach's α coefficient for the overall IS-R-C score was 0.88, indicating high internal consistency. The scale demonstrated a split-half reliability coefficient of 0.73 and a composite reliability coefficient of 0.91. The reliability coefficients for the two subscales were 0.77 and 0.87. Furthermore, the IS-R-C exhibited measurement invariance across gender identities. The IS-R-C demonstrates satisfactory psychometric properties, making it a suitable measure for studying indebtedness and related research in China.

Project description:The Chinese Healthy Eating Index (CHEI) is a measuring instrument of diet quality in accordance with the Dietary Guidelines for Chinese (DGC)-2016. The objective of the study was to evaluate the validity and reliability of the CHEI. Data from 12,473 adults from the China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS)-2011, including 3-day-24-h dietary recalls were used in this study. The CHEI was assessed by four exemplary menus developed by the DGC-2016, the general linear models, the independent t-test and the Mann-Whitney U-test, the Spearman's correlation analysis, the principal components analysis (PCA), the Cronbach's coefficient, and the Pearson correlation with nutrient intakes. A higher CHEI score was linked with lower exposure to known risk factors of Chinese diets. The CHEI scored nearly perfect for exemplary menus for adult men (99.8), adult women (99.7), and the healthy elderly (99.1), but not for young children (91.2). The CHEI was able to distinguish the difference in diet quality between smokers and non-smokers (P < 0.0001), people with higher and lower education levels (P < 0.0001), and people living in urban and rural areas (P < 0.0001). Low correlations with energy intake for the CHEI total and component scores (|r| < 0.34, P < 0.01) supported the index assessed diet quality independently of diet quantity. The PCA indicated that underlying multiple dimensions compose the CHEI, and Cronbach's coefficient α was 0.22. Components of dairy, fruits and cooking oils had the greatest impact on the total score. People with a higher CHEI score had not only a higher absolute intake of nutrients (P < 0.001), but also a more nutrient-dense diet (P < 0.001). Our findings support the validity and reliability of the CHEI when using the 3-day-24-h recalls.

Project description:The aim of this article is to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the Breathlessness Beliefs Questionnaire (BBQ) for use among patients with respiratory diseases in China. The BBQ is an instrument for assessing specific dyspnoea-related fears and may have predictive value for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease outcomes beyond general anxiety measures. This instrument has not previously been translated into Chinese or tested in mainland China. This was a cross-sectional validation study with a 1-week test of reproducibility. A total of 252 Chinese patients with respiratory diseases recruited from pulmonary outpatient and inpatient departments completed the BBQ. Demographic characteristics, pulmonary function and degree of dyspnoea were also measured. Cronbach's α was 0.82 for the total BBQ score; 0.72 for the somatic focus subscale and 0.73 for the activity avoidance subscale. Test-retest reliability was satisfactory, with intraclass correlation coefficient scores for the BBQ overall and for each subscale ranging from 0.96 to 0.98 ( p < 0.001). After exploratory factor analyses, the Chinese version of the BBQ was found to be similar to the original Dutch version. The Chinese version of the BBQ is a reliable tool to assess dyspnoea-related fear in patients with respiratory diseases in mainland China.

Project description:BackgroundThe 15-item care transition measure (CTM-15) is a reliable and valid instrument assessing the quality of care transition from patients' perspectives. The aim of this study was to evaluate the psychometric properties of the CTM-15 and the CTM-3 (a 3-item short version of the CTM-15) in Mainland China.Methodology/findingsThis was a cross-sectional study with a convenience sample of 646 patients in a general tertiary-level hospital in Chengdu, China. The results indicated that the Cronbach's α values of the Chinese version of the two measures were 0.90 and 0.56, and the test-retest reliability values were 0.91 and 0.87, respectively. Three factors were extracted for the CTM-15 in Chinese populations. The CTM-15 and the CTM-3 scores discriminated well between patients with and without re-hospitalization for their index condition. The CTM-15 and the CTM-3 had significant positive relationships with self-rated health status. The CTM-3 score was significantly related to the CTM-15 score, and the CTM-3 score accounted for 64.23% of the variance of the CTM-15 score.Conclusions/significanceThis study has demonstrated the psychometric properties of the CTM-15 and the CTM-3 in Mainland China. Although the Cronbach's α value of the CTM-3 is suboptimal, it has exhibited high test-retest reliability, convergent validity and criterion validity. Therefore, the CTM-3 can substitute the CTM-15 as a performance measurement tool when the sample size is large enough to compensate its suboptimal reliability or the reduced response burden is a concern.
