<h4>Background</h4>The CO<sub>2</sub>-concentrating mechanism associated to Crassulacean acid metabolism (CAM) alters the catalytic context for Rubisco by increasing CO<sub>2</sub> availability and provides an advantage in particular ecological conditions.
