Recent interest in the control of bone metabolism has focused on a specialized subset of CD31<sup>hi</sup>endomucin<sup>hi</sup> vessels, which are reported to couple angiogenesis with osteogenesis. However, the underlying mechanisms that link these processes together remain largely undefined.
