Fumonisins are well known as mycotoxins produced by various <i>Fusarium</i> species. Recently <i>Aspergillus niger</i> has been reported to be a fumonisin B<sub>2</sub> (FB<sub>2</sub>) producer. <i>Aspergillus niger</i> is a member of <i>Aspergillus</i> section <i>Nigri</i>.
