ABSTRACT: Highlights•Cardiac myxoma is the most common benign primary cardiac tumor.•Cardiac myxomas can cause a variety of symptoms from dyspnea to cardiac arrest.•Echocardiography plays an essential role in the diagnosis of cardiac myxomas.•Prompt surgical excision is the gold standard treatment of cardiac myxomas.•Air-travel predispose for cardiac decompensation in several heart conditions.•We describe a case of cardiac decompensation in a patient with a cardiac myxoma.
