Draft Genome Sequence of Pseudomonas sp. Strain LD120, Isolated from the Marine Alga Saccharina latissima.

ABSTRACT: We report the draft genome sequence of Pseudomonas sp. strain LD120, which was isolated from a brown macroalga in the Baltic Sea. The genome of this marine Pseudomonas protegens subgroup bacterium harbors biosynthetic gene clusters for toxic metabolites typically produced by members of this Pseudomonas subgroup, including 2,4-diacetylphloroglucinol, pyoluteorin, and rhizoxin analogs.

The genome consists of 4,511 protein-coding genes, 63 tRNAs, 2 16S rRNAs, 3 23S rRNAs, and a single copy of 5S rRNA.

Draft genome sequence of the marine Streptomyces sp. strain PP-C42, isolated from the Baltic Sea.

Project description:Streptomyces, a branch of aerobic Gram-positive bacteria, represents the largest genus of actinobacteria. The streptomycetes are characterized by a complex secondary metabolism and produce over two-thirds of the clinically used natural antibiotics today. Here we report the draft genome sequence of a Streptomyces strain, PP-C42, isolated from the marine environment. A subset of unique genes and gene clusters for diverse secondary metabolites as well as antimicrobial peptides could be identified from the genome, showing great promise as a source for novel bioactive compounds.

Here, we report the draft genome sequence of Alteromonas sp. strain KS69, isolated from Narragansett Bay deep water samples. Unpublished preliminary data suggest that KS69 reduces expression of the 3-oxo-C12-HSL-dependent, virulence-associated gene lasB of Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1, suggesting that it produces a quorum sensing inhibitor.
