Mechanisms underpinning airway epithelial homeostatic maintenance and ways to prevent its dysregulation remain elusive. Herein, we identify that β-catenin phosphorylated at Y489 (p-β-catenin<sup>Y489</sup>) emerges during human squamous lung cancer progression.
