Wetlands are a major source of methane (CH<sub>4</sub>) and contribute between 30 and 40% to the total CH<sub>4</sub> emissions. Wetland CH<sub>4</sub> emissions depend on temperature, water table depth, and both the quantity and quality of organic matter.
