Hydrogen-bonding patterns in 2,2-bis-(4-methyl-phen-yl)hexa-fluoro-propane pyridinium and ethyl-enedi-ammonium salt crystals.

ABSTRACT: The crystal structures of two salt crystals of 2,2-bis-(4-methyl-phen-yl)hexa-fluoro-propane (Bmphfp) with amines, namely, dipyridinium 4,4'-(1,1,1,3,3,3-hexa-fluoro-propane-2,2-di-yl)dibenzoate 4,4'-(1,1,1,3,3,3-hexa-fluoro-propane-2,2-di-yl)di-benzoic acid, 2C5H6N+·C17H8F6O4 2-·C17H10F6O4, (1), and a monohydrated ethyl-enedi-ammonium salt ethane-1,2-diaminium 4,4'-(1,1,1,3,3,3-hexa-fluoro-propane-2,2-di-yl)dibenzoate monohydrate, C2H10N2 2+·C17H8F6O4 2-·H2O, (2), are reported. Compounds 1 and 2 crystallize, respectively, in space group P21/c with Z' = 2 and in space group Pbca with Z' = 1. The crystals of compound 1 contain neutral and anionic Bmphfp mol-ecules, and form a one-dimensional hydrogen-bonded chain motif. The crystals of compound 2 contain anionic Bmphfp mol-ecules, which form a complex three-dimensional hydrogen-bonded network with the ethyl-enedi-amine and water mol-ecules.

The [Pr(SO4)5(H2O)] groups are arranged in sheets parallel to (010). Project description:The title compound, C(13)H(22)N(4)O(2) (2+)·2PF(6) (-), was prepared by the anion exchange of the dibromide ionic liquid with potassium hexa-fluoro-phosphate. The two imidazole rings are each planar (r.m.s. deviations = 0.0016 and 0.0060?Å) and make a dihedral angle of 45.3?(18)°. Intra-molecular O-H?F hydrogen bonds occur. Inter-molecular C-H?F, O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:The title compound, [NH3(CH2)4NH3](2+)·SiF6 (2-), is a hybrid built from an organic butane-1,4-di-ammonium dication linked to a hexa-fluoro-silicate mineral anion. Both ions posses inversion symmetry. In the anion the Si atom is located on an inversion center, while in the cation the center of inversion is situated at the mid-point of the central -CH2-CH2- bond. Project description:The title compound, (C(8)H(20)N)[Tb(C(5)HF(6)O(2))(4)], is a tetrakis ?-diketonate complex of hexa-fluoro-acetyl-acetone with terbium(III), and tetra-ethyl-ammonium as the counter-ion. This compound shows typical green terbium(III) luminescence upon excitation at about 335?nm. The coordination geometry around the Tb(III) atom is a slightly distorted square anti-prism. One hexa-fluoro-acetyl-acetone ligand has a disordered CF(3) group [occupancies of 0.575?(4) and 0.425?(4)]. A three-dimensional network is built up by linkage of Tb(III) complexes via C-H?F inter-actions.

Project description:The crystal structures of the building block tetra-methyl-ammonium (2,2'-bi-pyridine-?(2) N,N')tetra-cyanidoferrate(III) trihydrate, [N(CH3)4][Fe(CN)4(C10H8N2)]·3H2O, (I), and a new two-dimensional cyanide-bridged bimetallic coordination polymer, poly[[(2,2'-bi-pyridine-?(2) N,N')di-?2-cyanido-dicyanido(?-ethyl-enedi-amine-?(2) N:N')(ethyl-enedi-amine-?(2) N,N')cadmium(II)iron(II)] monohydrate], [CdFe(CN)4(C10H8N2)(C2H8N2)2]·H2O, (II), are reported. In the crystal of (I), pairs of [Fe(2,2'-bipy)(CN)4](-) units (2,2'-bipy is 2,2'-bi-pyri-dine) are linked together through ?-? stacking between the pyridyl rings of the 2,2'-bipy ligands to form a graphite-like structure parallel to the ab plane. The three independent water mol-ecules are hydrogen-bonded alternately with each other, forming a ladder chain structure with R 4 (4)(8) and R 6 (6)(12) graph-set ring motifs, while the disordered [N(CH3)4](+) cations lie above and below the water chains, and the packing is stabilized by weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds. The water chains are further linked with adjacent sheets into a three-dimensional network via O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the lattice water mol-ecules and the N atoms of terminal cyanide groups of the [Fe(2,2'-bipy)(CN)4](-) building blocks, forming an R 4 (4)(12) ring motif. Compound (II) features a two-dimensional {[Fe(2,2'-bipy)(CN)4Cd(en)2]} n layer structure (en is ethyl-enedi-amine) extending parallel to (010) and constructed from {[Fe(2,2'-bipy)(CN)4Cd(en)]} n chains inter-linked by bridging en ligands at the Cd atoms. Classical O-H?N and N-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the lattice water mol-ecule and N atoms of terminal cyanide groups and the N-H groups of the en ligands are observed within the layers. The layers are further connected via ?-? stacking inter-actions between adjacent pyridine rings of the 2,2'-bipy ligands, completing a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

The zwitterionic organic mol-ecule is also centrosymmetric. In the crystal, the components are associated into a two-dimensional network through O-H?O hydrogen bonds. Further O-H?O and O-H?N inter-actions give a three-dimensional structure. The free water molecule is disordered over two positions in a 0.787?(5):0.213?(5) ratio.

Project description:The title N-heterocyclic carbene compound, C(21)H(22)N(4) (2+)·2PF(6) (-), crystallizes as an inversion twin. There are two independent N-heterocyclic carbene dications (A and B) and four independent hexa-fluoro-phosphate anions in the asymmetric unit. The cations are L-shaped with the benzene rings being inclined to one another by 88.82 (16)° in cation A and 87.03 (16)° in cation B. The imidazole rings make dihedral angles of 35.7 (2) and 32.83 (18)° with the attached benzene rings in cation A, and 30.14 (19) and 31.96 (18)° in cation B. In the crystal, the cations are linked via C-H⋯F hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. π-π inter-actions involving the benzene and imidazole rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.602 (2) and 3.723 (2) Å] and C-H⋯π inter-actions are also present.
