Tissue-nonspecific alkaline phosphatase (TNAP) is a key enzyme in the biomineralization process as it produces phosphate from a number of phospho-substrates stimulating mineralization while it also inactivates inorganic pyrophosphate, a potent mineralization inhibitor.
