Neonates born with critical congenital heart defects are at risk of diffuse white matter injuries and neurodevelopmental impairments. This study aimed to determine the impact of circulating cell-free hemoglobin and hyperoxia, both present during cardiopulmonary bypass circulation, on white matter brain development.
