Diverse metabolic disorders have been associated with an alteration of <i>N</i>-acylethanolamine (NAE) levels. These bioactive lipids are synthesized mainly by <i>N</i>-acylphosphatidylethanolamine-selective phospholipase D (NAPE-PLD) and influence host metabolism.
