Data from multi year and multi radiation detector measurements of different radiation sources with environmental data.

ABSTRACT: The data described consists of radiation measurement outputs from several different detectors located in Abu Dhabi, UAE, for the duration of 30 November 2014 through 13 December 2016. This data could be useful for anyone studying radiation count rate or spectroscopic changes over a multi year period from various radiation sources and measurement systems. The outputs of the measurement systems include 1) counts per 20 min from a Geiger-Muller detector measuring 90Sr, 2) counts per 20 min from a Geiger-Muller detector measuring 204Tl, 3) radiation spectra per 30 min from a NaI detector measuring 60Co, 4) radiation spectra per 30 min from a NaI detector measuring 54Mn, 5) radiation spectra per 30 min from a liquid scintillation detector measuring 226Ra, 6) counts per 30 min from a liquid scintillation detector measuring 14C, and room pressure, temperature, and humidity data every 10 min. A detailed description of the setup of each of these measurement systems can be found in "Experimental Setup and Commissioning Baseline Study in Search of Time-Variations in Beta-Decay Half-Lives" [1].

Project description:ObjectivesTo investigate the interdisciplinary interobserver reproducibility of Hertel-exophthalmometry-like protrusion measurements on multidetector-row-computed-tomography- (MDCT-) images of the orbit to facilitate structured evaluation of the orbit and mid-face.MethodsRespective reproducibility of base-length along the interfronto-zygomatic line, right and left ocular protrusion, and deriving interocular difference was measured in this retrospective (04/2009-03/2020) single-centre observational study. MDCT-series and slice-positions were selected independently, using picture-archiving-and-communication-system- (PACS-) tools on tilt-corrected axial MDCT-images (slice-thickness 0.6-3.0 mm, window/centre 350/50 HU) in 37 selected adult patients (24 female, age 57 ± 13 years, average±standard-deviation) with clinical indication for Hertel-exophthalmometry, by one radiology-attending, two ophthalmology-attendings, one critical-care-attending, and one ear-nose-throat-surgery resident, respectively. Bland-Altman plots and Wilcoxon-matched-pairs-signed-rank-tests compared interobserver results.ResultsMean and median interobserver and intraobserver (radiology-attending) deviations were within 1 mm of respective averages of base-length (98 ± 4 mm), right and left ocular protrusion (21 ± 4 mm) and interocular difference (2 ± 1 mm). Relative interobserver deviations were within 2.0% of average (all patients) for base-length, and 5.0% (>80% of patients) for ocular protrusion. Pairwise interobserver comparison showed no significant differences between interocular differences of protrusion.ConclusionsRespective measurements of base-length, ocular protrusion, and deriving interocular difference show high interdisciplinary interobserver reproducibility in tilt-corrected axial MDCT-images of the orbit or mid-face.Advances in knowledgeHertel-exophthalmometry-like protrusion measurements did not depend on the years of experience or the medical subspecialty of the observer. Measurements are objective, well reproducible and important for multiple medical disciplines and should thus be included in pertinent radiology reports.

Project description:BACKGROUND:Multimorbidity is a global health issue, particularly for older adults in the primary care setting. An adequate portrayal of its epidemiology is essential to properly identify and understand the health care needs of this population. This study aimed to compare the differences in the prevalence of selected chronic conditions and multimorbidity, including its associated characteristics, using health survey/self-reported (SR) information only, administrative (Adm) data only and the combined (either) sources. METHODS:This was a secondary analysis of survey data from the first cycle of the Longitudinal Survey on Senior's Health and Health Services Use linked to health-Adm data. The analytical sample consisted of 1625 community-dwelling older adults (≥65 years) recruited in the waiting rooms of primary health clinics in a selected administrative region of the province of Quebec. Seventeen chronic conditions were assessed according to two different data sources. We examined the differences in the observed prevalence of chronic conditions and multimorbidity and the agreement between data sources. RESULTS:The prevalence of each of the 17 chronic conditions ranged from 1.2 to 68.7% depending on the data source. The agreement between different data sources was highly variable, with kappa coefficients (κ) ranging from 0.05 to 0.73. Multimorbidity was very high in this population, with an estimated prevalence of up to 95.9%. In addition, we found that the association between sociodemographic and behavioural factors and the presence of multimorbidity varied according to the different data sources and thresholds. CONCLUSIONS:This is the first study to simultaneously investigate chronic conditions and multimorbidity prevalence among primary care older adults using combined SR and health-Adm data. Our results call attention to (1) the possibility of underestimating cases when using a single data source and (2) the potential benefits of integrating information from different data sources to increase case identification. This is an important aspect of characterizing the health care needs of this fast-growing population.
