Research Progress of Coronavirus Based on Bibliometric Analysis.

ABSTRACT: BACKGROUND:COVID-19 has become one of the most serious global epidemics in the 21st Century. This study aims to explore the distribution of research capabilities of countries, institutions, and researchers, and the hotspots and frontiers of coronavirus research in the past two decades. In it, references for funding support of urgent projects and international cooperation among research institutions are provided. METHOD:the Web of Science core collection database was used to retrieve the documents related to coronavirus published from 2003 to 2020. Citespace.5.6.R2, VOSviewer1.6.12, and Excel 2016 were used for bibliometric analysis. RESULTS:11,036 documents were retrieved, of which China and the United States have contributed the most coronavirus studies, Hong Kong University being the top contributor. Regarding journals, the Journal of Virology has contributed the most, while in terms of researchers, Yuen Kwok Yung has made the most contributions. The proportion of documents published by international cooperation has been rising for decades. Vaccines for SARS-CoV-2 are under development, and clinical trials of several drugs are ongoing. CONCLUSIONS:international cooperation is an important way to accelerate research progress and achieve success. Developing corresponding vaccines and drugs are the current hotspots and research directions.

Project description:BackgroundHeat stroke (HS) is an acute physical disorder that is associated with a high risk of organ dysfunction and even death. HS patients are usually treated symptomatically and conservatively; however, there remains a lack of specific and effective drugs in clinical practice. An analysis of publication contributions from institutions, journals and authors in different countries/regions was used to study research progress and trends regarding HS.MethodsWe extracted all relevant publications on HS between 1989 and 2019 from Web of Science. Using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS, version 24) and the software GraphPad Prism 8, graphs were generated and statistical analyses were performed, while VOSviewer software was employed to visualize the research trends in HS from the perspectives of co-occurring keywords.ResultsAs of April 14, 2020, we identified 1443 publications with a citation frequency of 5216. The United States accounted for the largest number of publications (36.2%) and the highest number of citations (14,410), as well as the highest H-index at 74. Although the sum of publications from China ranked second, there was a contradiction between the quantity and quality of publications. Furthermore, Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise published the most papers related to HS, with Lin MT publishing the most papers in this field (112), while the review by Knochel JP received the highest citation frequency at 969. The keyword heat-stress appeared most recently, with an average appearing year of 2015.5. In the clinical research cluster, exertional heat-stroke was determined to be the hotspot, while ambient-temperature and heat waves were the new trends in the epidemiological research cluster.ConclusionsCorresponding to this important field, while the contributions of the publications from the United States were significant, the mismatch between the quantity and quality of publications from China must be examined. Moreover, it is hypothesized that clinical and epidemiological studies may become hotspots in the near future.

Project description:BackgroundThe past decade has witnessed the preliminary development of pre-hospital emergency. We analyzed the scientific output related to pre-hospital emergency in the past two decades, aiming to evaluate the publication status of the literature related to pre-hospital emergency through bibliometrics analysis, and hope to provide enlightenment of trends and hotspots for the development of pre-hospital emergency.MethodBy web of science, all literature on pre-hospital emergency from 2000 to 2 October 2020 was retrieved and screened by two researchers. Excel, Social Sciences Statistics Package (SPSS, version 24) and software GraphPad Prism 8 were used to analyze the publication trend in related fields. Besides, VOSviewer, Citespace were also applied to visualize the research trends and study the co-occurring keywords in pre-hospital emergency.ResultsAs of 2 October 2020, a total of 1839 pre-hospital emergency publications with total citation of 32800 times were identified. The United States accounted for the largest number of publications (36.7%) and the highest number of citations (12825), but its H-index was fourth (20.17). In the aspects of journals and articles, Prehospital Emergency Care is the most published journal in pre-hospital emergency (256), while the articles from Smith K presented the highest citation frequency (751). We can also obtain the information that the overall trend is upward, and developed countries contribute most. "Complications" is a hot research field in intensive care. In the identification research cluster, "acute ischemic stroke" was determined to be the hotspot, while "secondary outcome" was the new trend in the first-aid cluster. As for the management, "embase" was noted as new topics.ConclusionIn the past decade, researches on pre-hospital emergency has increased rapidly. However, the related articles were mainly published in developed countries, the United States has absolute advantages especially. Moreover, first-aid studies may become hotspots in the near future.

Project description:Background Research on tumor organoids has developed rapidly over the past 20 years, but a systematic analysis of current research trends is lacking. Researchers in the field need relevant references and knowledge of current research hot spots. Bibliometric analysis and visualization is a systematic method of acquiring an in-depth understanding of the status of research on tumor organoids. Methods CiteSpace, VOSviewer and the Bibliometric Online Analysis Platform from the Web of Science Core Collection were used to analyze and predict publishing trends and research hot spots worldwide in the field of tumor organoids. Results A total of 3,666 publications on tumor organoids were retrieved, and 2,939 eligible articles were included in the final analysis. The number of publications has grown significantly, with the United States of America as the leading country for research on tumor organoids. Among journals, Cancers published the largest number of articles. Harvard Medical School published the highest number of articles among all institutions. The Chinese Academy of Sciences was ranked highest among all contributing institutions on the importance of their publications. A trend in multi-disciplinary collaboration was observed in studies on tumor organoids. Keywords indicated that the current research largely concentrated on optimizing the construction of organoid models to use for medication development and screening in the clinical setting, and to provide patients with individualized treatment for gastric cancer and colorectal cancer, which are newly emerging research hotspots. Gastric and colorectal cancers were the top two tumors that have received increasing attention and have become the focal points of recent studies. Conclusion This study analyzed 2,939 publications covering the topic of tumor organoids. Although optimizing the construction of organoid models has always been a hot topic in this field, the application of tumor organoids to the development of medications and screenings will foster individualized treatment for patients, which is another emerging hot spot in this field of research.
