ABSTRACT: Near-infrared croconaine-peptide conjugates that target the cell nucleus promote photothermal induced cell death. In contrast, a croconaine-morpholine conjugate that targets the cell lysosomes promotes lysosome permeabilization without measurable cell phototoxicity.
