Species in genera of the fungal family Ceratocystidaceae are known to have different mating strategies, including heterothallism and homothallism. Of these, species of <i>Ceratocystis</i>, typified by the pathogen <i>Ceratocystis fimbriata</i> all undergo unidirectional mating-type switching.
