The pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD), a slowly-developing age-related neurodegenerative disorder, is a result of the action of multiple factors including deregulation of Ca<sup>2+</sup> homeostasis, mitochondrial dysfunction, and dysproteostasis.
