ABSTRACT: Diaporthe sp. strain HANT25 is an endophytic fungus that produces mycoepoxydiene, a rare bioactive natural compound. Here, we report the genome sequence of Diaporthe sp. HANT25, comprising 55.3?Mb in 80 scaffolds. The genome sequence should enhance understanding of the biology and bioactive compound production potential of the genus Diaporthe.

Isochromophilones from an endophytic fungus Diaporthe sp.

Project description:Three new azaphilone compounds, isochromophilones X–XII (1–3), together with two known ones sclerotioramine (4) and isochromophilone VI (5) were isolated from the cultures of an endophytic fungus Diaporthe sp. The structures were elucidated by extensive HRESIMS and NMR spectroscopic analyses. All compounds were tested for their cytotoxicities against five human cancer cell lines by MTT method, among which compound 1 showed moderate inhibitory effects on these cell lines. This was the first report of azaphilones isolated from Diaporthe sp. Draft genome sequence of Paenibacillus algorifonticola sp. nov., an antimicrobial-producing strain.

Project description:Paenibacillus algorifonticola sp. nov. is isolated from a cold spring sample from Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (China), a novel strain that can produce antimicrobial substance against human pathogenic bacteria and fungi, including Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans. Here we report a 7.60-Mb assembly of its genome sequence and other useful information, including the coding sequences (CDSs) responsible for the biosynthesis of antibacterial factors, anaerobic respiration and several immune-associated reactions. Also, prospective studies on P. algorifonticola sp. nov. in the cold spring might offer a potential source for the discovery of bioactive compounds with medical value.
