<i>Porphyromonas gingivalis</i> is a Gram-negative anaerobic pathogen that can trigger oral dysbiosis as an early event in the pathogenesis of periodontal disease. The FDA-approved drug zafirlukast (ZAF) was recently shown to display antibacterial activity against <i>P. gingivalis</i>.
