Studies suggest that tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) has vasoprotective potential, as low levels of TRAIL cause accelerated vascular calcification, whereas exogenous TRAIL administration exhibits anti-atherosclerotic activity.
