Mitochondrial calcium (<sub>m</sub>Ca<sup>2+</sup>) homeostasis also plays a key role in the buffering of cytosolic calcium (<sub>c</sub>Ca<sup>2+</sup>) and calcium transported into the mitochondrial matrix regulates cellular metabolism, migration and cell fate decisions.
