The <i>Mesoniviridae</i> are a newly assigned family of viruses in the order <i>Nidovirales</i>. Unlike other nidoviruses, which include the <i>Coronaviridae</i>, mesoniviruses are restricted to mosquito hosts and do not infect vertebrate cells.
