A new species of Trachelas L. Koch, 1872 (Araneae, Trachelidae) from Tajikistan.

ABSTRACT: A new species of trachelid spiders, Trachelas crewsae sp. nov. is described from south-western Tajikistan based on both sexes. The new species is closely related to T. vulcani Simon, 1896 from South-East Asia but differs in the conformation of the copulatory organs and color pattern.

Project description:Two new species of Diplura C. L. Koch 1850 are described from Brazil: Diplura mapinguarisp. n., from the state of Rondônia in southeastern Amazonia, northern Brazil, and Diplura rodrigoisp. n., known from southeastern and central west regions of Brazil. Diplura rodrigoisp. n. is morphologically similar to D. lineata (Lucas, 1857), D. sanguinea (F. O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1896), and D. mapinguarisp. n. Comments on diagnostic characters of Diplura are included. The synonymy of D. maculata (Mello-Leitão, 1927) with D. catharinensis (Mello-Leitão, 1923) is corroborated. A classification of color pattern of the dorsum of the abdomen is given.

Origin and diversification of free-living stick spiders of Sri Lanka including the description of four new species of Rhomphaea L. Koch, 1872 and two new species of Neospintharus Exline, 1950.

Project description:Sri Lanka is a biologically diverse South Asian island, and together with the Western Ghats (Southern India) is one of the 36 world's most biologically diverse areas. Here, we investigated the origin and diversification of Rhomphaea and Neospintharus of Sri Lanka using sequences of three genes: mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase I (COI) and 16S rRNA (16S); and nuclear 28S rRNA (28S). Our phylogeny included 32 taxa (30 ingroup and 2 outgroup). We used Bayesian Inference and maximum likelihood methods to reconstruct the placement of species, divergence time estimations and their foraging behavior with an emphasis on species from Sri Lanka. Our phylogenetic hypothesis support the monophyly of Argyrodinae as well as the monophyly of Rhomphaea, where Rhomphaea is a sister group of Neospintharus. Further, our analysis also suggests that Sri Lanka was colonized by Argyrodinae several times. Additionally, the following new species are described: Rhomphaea shanthi sp. nov., Rhomphaea jacko sp. nov., Rhomphaea martini sp. nov., Rhomphaea marani sp. nov., Neospintharus kandelensis sp. nov. and Neospintharus ohiyiaensis sp. nov.

Project description:A new species of harvestmen, Zachaeusseyyari sp. n. (Opiliones, Phalangiidae), is described and illustrated on the basis of both sexes from Şırnak Province in Turkey. Differences between the new species and related species are indicated. Photographs of its characteristic structures are also provided.

Four species of spider genus Cheiracanthium C. L. Koch, 1839 (Araneae, Eutichuridae) from Jinggang Mountains, Jiangxi Province, China.

Project description:Four species of spider genus Cheiracanthium C. L. Koch, 1839 are reported from Jinggang Mountains, Jiangxi Province, China. Two of them are described as new to science: C. auriculatumsp. n. (♀♂) and C. echinulatumsp. n. (♂). Cheiracanthium taiwanicum Chen, Huang, Chen & Wang, 2006 is recorded from Mainland China for the first time. Cheiracanthium zhejiangense Hu & Song, 1982, the most similar species to C. auriculatumsp. n., is a newly recorded species of Jiangxi Province. Detailed descriptions, diagnoses, and photographs of the two new species are given. Cheiracanthium taiwanicum and C. zhejiangense are also illustrated.

Seven new species of Pinelema from Vietnam (Araneae, Telemidae).

Project description:Seven new species of the spider genus Pinelema Wang & Li, 2012, from Vietnam are reported: P. damtaoensis Zhao & Li, sp. n. (??), P. nuocnutensis Zhao & Li, sp. n. (??), P. laensis Zhao & Li, sp. n. (??), P. pacchanensis Zhao & Li, sp. n. (??), P. spirulata Zhao & Li, sp. n. (??), P. xiezi Zhao & Li, sp. n. (??), and P. zhenzhuang Zhao & Li, sp. n. (??). Prior to the current study, this genus contained eight species and was known only from southwestern China. The diagnosis of the genus is updated, accounting for characters found in the new species.

Two new species of Harpactea (Araneae, Dysderidae) from Turkey.

Project description:Two new species, Harpactea arnedoisp. n. and Harpactea kenceisp. n., are described on the basis of both sexes from the eastern Mediterranean and Aegean regions of Turkey. Harpactea kenceisp. n. can be easily distinguished from all other Turkish and European representatives of the genus by the structure of the flattened, massive embolus on the male copulatory organ. Although resembling Stalagtia in palpal morphology, we describe one of the new species as Harpactea arnedoisp. n. For both Turkish species, detailed morphological descriptions and diagnoses are presented together with figures of the copulatory organs.
