Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic inflammatory oromucosal disease. The <i>N</i>-acylethanolamines (NAEs), are a family of endogenous biologically active lipid mediators, with palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) being of particular interest here due to its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.
