The complete mitochondrial genome and phylogenetic analysis of Spondylus violaceus.

ABSTRACT: Spondylus violaceus is a species of the bivalve family Spondylidae, commonly known as thorny oyster. Here, we report the complete mitochondrial genome of S. violaceus. The mitochondrial genome of S. violaceus is 30,160?bp in length, which contains 12 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes and 19 transfer RNA genes. The overall AT content (58.31%) was higher than GC content (41.69%). This is the first record of complete mitochondrial genome in the family Spondylidae, providing the basis for future taxonomic and phylogenetic studies of this bivalve family.

Project description:Tremoctopus violaceus is a small species of pelagic octopods which inhabit in subtropical and tropical open oceans. The mitogenome of T. violaceus is 16,015 base pairs (bp) in length and contained 13 protein-coding genes, two rRNA genes, and 22 tRNA genes. Sequence analysis showed that the overall base composition is 31.5% for A, 40.47% for T, 7.79% for C, and 20.24% for G. The newly characterized complete mitochondrial genome of T. violaceus will provide essential data for further studies of this endangered species.

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome of Pseudocolochirus violaceus was obtained and described in this study. This complete mitochondrial genome is 15,752 bp in length and consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and 22 transfer RNA genes. Except ND6 and 5 tRNAs, the others were encoded by the heavy strand. The overall base composition of the heavy-strand was 38.65% A, 12.09% G, 24.31% C, and 24.95% T, with a high A + T content of 63.6%. The phylogenetic analysis suggested that P. violaceus was closest to Cucumaria miniata. The newly described mitochondrial genome may provide valuable data for phylogenetic analysis for Holothuroidea.

Complete mitochondrial genome and phylogenetic analysis of Ixodes persulcatus (taiga tick).

Project description:Ixodes persulcatus is a species of hard tick which is a predominant tick species that spreads a wide array of serious human and animal pathogens. Here, we first assemble the complete mitogenome of I. persulcatus of China. The total length of the mitogenome was 14,539 bp included 36 genes and with a mitogenome structure similar to other ticks. Phylogenetic tree was constructed based on the complete mitogenome of I. persulcatus and closely related 19 species ticks to assess their phylogenic relationship and evolution. We also analyze the differences between the mitogenomes of I. persulcatus of Japan and China. The complete mitogenome data would be useful for further study of I. persulcatus.

Project description:The complete nucleotide sequence of the mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of Aspiorhynchus laticeps was determined. The length of the complete mitochondrial DNA sequence of A. laticeps is 16,591 bp, which consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, two ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes, and a non-coding region 'D-loop'. Except for the D-loop, another non-coding region named replication origin of L-strand (OL) region was also found. According to the phylogenetic analysis, A. laticeps has a closer relationship with Schizothorax.

Project description:Hemiptelea davidii (Hance) Planch is a potential valuable forest tree in arid sandy environments. Here, the complete mitochondrial genome of H. davidii was assembled using a combination of the PacBio Sequel data and the Illumina Hiseq data. The mitochondrial genome is 460,941?bp in length, including 37 protein-coding genes, 19 tRNA genes, and three rRNA genes. The GC content of the whole mitochondrial genome is 44.84%. Phylogenetic analyses indicated that H. davidii is close with Cannabis and Morus species.

The complete mitochondrial genome and phylogenetic analysis of Amusium pleuronectes.

Project description:Amusium pleuronectes, commonly known as the Asian moon scallop, is widely distributed in Indo-Pacific coasts. In this study, the complete mitogenome sequence of A. pleuronectes (18,044 bp) is reported, which represents the first mitogenome from the Amusium genus. This mitogenome contains 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNAs, and 22 tRNA genes, showing similar mitogenome features for most marine bivalves. Phylogenetic analysis reveals that within the family Pectinidae, the genus Amusium is closely related to the genus Argopecten. The mitogenome of A. pleuronectes provides a valuable resource for further advancing the understanding of bivalve phylogeny and evolution.

The complete mitochondrial genome and phylogenetic analysis of Neorhodomela munita.

Project description:Neorhodomela munita (Perestenko) Masuda 1982 is distributed in the coastal areas of Shandong and Liaoning in China, and also in Japan. In this study, the complete nucleotide sequence of the circular mitochondrial DNA of the red alga Neorhodomela munita has been determined. The complete mitochondrial DNA sequence of Neorhodomela munita was 25,318 bp in length with an overall GC content of 25.1% and encoded 23 protein-coding genes, two ribosomal RNAs and 24 transfer RNAs. Phylogenetic tree showed that Neorhodomela munita clustered together with Choreocolax polysiphoniae. The phylogenetic analysis may provide a better understanding of the evolution of the Rhodophyta species.

Complete mitochondrial genome of Takydromus kuehnei (Squamata: Takydromus) and its phylogenetic analysis

Project description:Abstract We sequenced and annotated the complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of Takydromus kuehnei Van Denburgh, 1909 (Squamata: Takydromus). This mitogenome was 17,224 bp long and encoded 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, two ribosomal RNA genes, one non-coding regions of an L-strand replication origin and a displacement loop region. The overall nucleotide composition was 32.8% of A, 13.8% of G, 24.8% of T, and 30.5% of C. Phylogenetic analysis using maximum likelihood method validated the taxonomic status of T. kuehnei, exhibiting the close relationship with the species from the genus Takydromus.

Project description:Here, we report the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of Alaska Pollock, Gadus chalcogramma. The genome sequence was obtained via long PCR reactions using universal primer sets for the fish mitochondrial genome. The total length of mitochondrial genome was 16,571 bp, consisting of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes, and one control region (D-loop). Except for ND6 and eight tRNA genes, all of the other mitochondrial genes were encoded on the heavy strand. The NJ tree of the combined 13 protein-coding gene sequences of Gadus chalcogramma possesses a relatively closer relationship with the Okhotsk Sea Pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus). Our complete mitochondrial genome will be valuable resources for phylogeny, genetics, and conservation of the Gadus chalcogramma in Korea.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Lymantria xylina with phylogenetic analysis.

Project description:Lymantria xylina (Lepidoptera: Lymantriidae) is an important forest pest in some Asian countries. In this study, we determined the complete mitochondrial genome of L. xylina. The length of the genome is 15,488 bp and contains 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes, and an A + T-rich region. All PCGs use ATN as start codon and TAA as stop codon except for cox2 and nad4. The A + T-content of the genome is 80.64% and show the bias of nucleotides. We reconstructed the sister group relationship of (L. xylina + (L. dispar + Lymantria sp. AN-2017)).
