The complete chloroplast genome of Liparis nervosa (Orchidaceae).

ABSTRACT: Liparis nervosa, a terrestrial orchid was widely used as a traditional medicinal plant in China. In this study, we assembled the complete chloroplast genome of L. nervosa using Illumina sequencing data. The whole genome is 158,716 bp, contains a large single-copy region (LSC 86,010 bp), a small single-copy region (SSC 18,276 bp), and a pair of inverted repeats (IR 27,215 bp). The complete genome has 132 genes, including 77 protein-coding genes, 38 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. In addition, a maximum-likelihood phylogenetic analysis demonstrated that L. nervosa was most closely related to Oberonia japonica. This work provides a theoretical basis for the development of conservation strategies of L. nervosa.

Project description:Liparis nervosa is a plant of the family Orchidaceae and mainly distributed in subtropical and tropical regions of the world. In Chinese traditional medicine, it has been used for the treatment of hemostasis, carbuncle, and furuncle for centuries. The chloroplast (cp) genome of L. nervosa, sequenced based on next-generation platform (NEOSAT), is 157,274?bp in size. The cp genome encodes 130 genes, including eight rRNA genes, 85 protein-coding genes (PCGs), and 37 tRNA genes. Phylogenetic relationship analysis based on complete cp genome sequences exhibited that both of L. nervosa and L. loeselii were phylogenetically closer to Dendrobium officinale.

Project description:Liparis bootanensis is an epiphytic orchid distributed in tropical and subtropical regions of Asia, and has been listed as an endangered species in the Wildlife Conservation List. In this study, the complete chloroplast genome of L. bootanensis was assembled using Illumina sequencing data. The complete chloroplast (cp) genome is 158,325 bp in length, including a pair of invert repeats (IRA and IRB) regions of 26,700 bp, large single-copy (LSC) region of 86,584 bp, and small single-copy (SSC) region of 18,341 bp. The chloroplast genome contains 133 genes, including 83 protein-coding genes, 38 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. The phylogenetic analysis indicated that Oberonia japonica was closely related to L. bootanensis based on 17chloroplast genomes matrix of Orchidaceae.

Project description:The Orchidaceae contains numerous species with great ecological and economic values. In this study, the complete chloroplast genome of Liparis japonica was presented by next-generation sequencing technologies. The cpDNA is 152,084 bp in length with a large single copy region (LSC) of 85,398 bp, a small single copy region (SSC) of 14,774 bp, and a pair of inverted repeat regions (IRs) of 25,956 bp. It contains 132 genes, including 79 protein-coding genes, 38 tRNA genes, 8 rRNA genes, and 7 pseudogenes. The overall GC content is 37.0%, while the corresponding values in the LSC, SSC, and IR region are 34.3, 30.0, 43.5%, respectively. The phylogenetic analysis shows that Liparis japonica is sister to Liparis loeselii and the genus Liparis is closely related to Dendrobium.

Project description:Dendrobium thyrsiflorum H. G. Reichenbach ex André is an endemic herb with ornamental and medicinal orchid value distributed in Southeast of Yunnan of China. Here, we report and characterize the complete chloroplast (cp) genome sequence of D. thyrsiflorum in order to provide genomic resources helpful for its identification, conservation and utilization. Complete chloroplast genome of Cymbidium ensifolium（Orchidaceae）.

Project description:Cymbidium ensifolium is one of the most economical and ornamental significant orchids. It's facing serious genetic resources loss and habitat fragmentation. A conservation strategy is therefore imperative for this endangered orchid. Here, we report on the first complete chloroplast (cp) genome of C. ensifolium. Its full-length of 150,257 bp include large single-copy (LSC) region of 85,110 bp, small single-copy (SSC) region of 13,761 bp, and a pair of invert repeats (IR) regions of 25,692 bp. Plastid genome contain 137 genes, 78 protein-coding genes, 38 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. Cymbidium ensifolium was sister to C. sinense, Cy. Tortisepalum, and C. kanran. The cp genome will help for further research and conservation of C. ensifolium.

Complete chloroplast genome of Paphiopedilum emersonii (Orchidaceae).

Project description:Paphiopedilum emersonii is an endemic terrestrial orchid in China. In this study, the chloroplast genome of P. emersonii was determined from BGISEQ-500 sequencing data. The total chloroplast genome was 162,590 bp in length, consisting of a large single-copy region (LSC, 87,852 bp), a small single-copy region (SSC, 870 bp), and two inverted repeat regions (IRA and IRB, 36,934 bp, each). The complete chloroplast genome contains 131 genes, including 81 protein-coding genes, 38 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. In addition, the phylogenetic analysis indicates that P. emersonii was sister to Paphiopedilum micranthum. The chloroplast genome will contribute to the research and conservation of P. emersonii.
