Fucoxanthin is a well-known carotenoid of the xanthophyll family, mainly produced by marine organisms such as the macroalgae of the fucus genus or microalgae such as <i>Phaeodactylum tricornutum</i>. Fucoxanthin has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties but also several anticancer effects.
