We enriched and characterized a biodesulfurizing consortium (designated as MG1). The MG1 consortium reduced the total sulfur of diesel by 25 % and utilized each of the diesel-born compounds dibenzothiophene (DBT), benzothiophene (BT), 4-methyldibenzothiophene (4-MDBT) and 4, 6-dimethyldibenzothiophene (4, 6-DMDBT) as a sole sulfur source.
