The complete mitochondrial genome of Hemisphaerius rufovarius Walker, 1858.

ABSTRACT: In this study, we have sequenced and annotated the complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of Hemisphaeriusrufovarius (Hemiptera: Fulgoroidea: Issidae) for the first time,the mitogenome is 15,955 bp (GenBankNo. MT210096), includes13 PCGs, 2 rRNAs, 22 tRNAs and one putative control region (D-loop). The AT content of this mitogenomeis 78.3% (A 47.7%,T30.6%, C 13.3%, and G 8.4%). Most the PCGs started with ATN or TTG(nad5), and ended with TANor single T. The result ofPhylogenetic tree showed a close relationship among the families Issidae, Flatidae and Ricaniidae.

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome of Aleochara postica Walker, 1858 was determined in this study. It is 15,473 bps in length, containing 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes, and a 778 bp A + T-rich control region. Most PCGs use the conventional ATN start codon, except for cox1 and nad1. Two genes (cox1 and cox3) use single T residue as stop codon rather than the routinely used TAA or TAG. All tRNAs, except for TrnS1, exhibit the cloverleaf secondary structure. ML phylogenetic analysis using 13 PCGs of 52 beetle species indicated that A. postica was clustered with other members of the subfamily Aleocharinae as conventional taxonomy predicted.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Hemerobius simulans Walker (Neuroptera, Hemerobiidae).

Project description:The complete mitochondrial (mt) genome of Hemerobius simulans Walker (Neuroptera, Hemerobiidae) is reported in this work. The whole mt genome is 17,985 bp long and contains 37canonical genes and an A + T-rich region, which is the same with insect ancestral mt genome arrangement. All 13 PCGs used the typical ATN as initiation codons. The control region of H. simulans mt genome is 1,416 bp long and the base composition is 90.0% of A + T. The phylogenetic analysis revealed that Hemerobiidae was monophyletic and was the sister group to Chrysopidae.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Monopis longella Walker, 1863 (Lepidoptera: Tineidae).

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of Monopis longella Walker, 1863 (Lepidoptera: Tineidae) comprises 15,541 bp and contains a typical set of genes and one non-coding region. The gene arrangement of M. longella is unique for Lepidoptera in that it has a trnI-trnM-trnQ sequence in the A + T-rich region and ND2 junction. Unlike most other lepidopteran insects, in which the COI gene has CGA as the start codon, M. longella COI has an ATT codon. Phylogenetic analyses based on the concatenated sequences of 13 protein-coding genes and two rRNA genes, using the Bayesian inference (BI) method, placed M. longella in the Tineidae, sister in position to the cofamilial species, Tineola bisselliella, with the highest nodal support. Tineidae, represented by three species including M. longella, formed a monophyletic group with high support (Bayesian posterior probability = 0.99). Within Tineoidea the sister relationship between Tineidae and Meessiidae was obtained with the highest support, leaving Psychidae occupying the basal lineage of the two families.

Project description:We have determined a mitochondrial genome of Ricania speculum (Walker, 1851) collected in Jeollabuk-do, Republic of Korea. The circular mitogenome of R. speculum is 15,530 bp long which is shorter than that of the previous mitogenome of R. speculum by 199 bp. It includes 13 protein-coding genes, two ribosomal RNA genes, and 22 transfer RNAs. Intraspecific variation between two mitogenome of R. speculum was investigated: 171 SNPs and 18 INDELs were identified, presenting a high level of intraspecific variations on mitochondrial genome.

Complete mitochondrial genome of the decomposer Ptecticus tenebrifer Walker, 1849 (Insecta: Diptera: Stratiomyidae).

Project description:Ptecticus tenebrifer (Walker, 1849), which is endemic in East Asia, plays a critical role in natural processing of organic waste. In this study, we found that the complete mitochondrial genome of P. tenebrifer is 15681 bp in length obtained from the MGIseq system (MGI) with 150 bp paired-end reads. As with typical animal mitochondrial genomes, it contains 13 protein coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, and 2 rRNA genes. The phylogenetic analysis was performed using the maximum likelihood method with a bootstrap value of 500 and the Tamura-Nei model and reveals the close relationship with P. aurifer.

The complete mitochondrial genome of the Amur soft-shelled turtle (Pelodiscus maackii Brandt, 1858), from South Korea.

Project description:In this study, we use a specimen from wild-caught individual to determine the complete mitochondrial genome of the Amur soft-shelled turtle (Pelodiscus maackii). The complete mitogenome of P. maackii has 16,258 bp in length and consists of 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNAs, two rRNAs, and one control region. The arrangement of genes of P. maackii is identical with previously reported mitogenomes in the family Trionychoidea. According to our result, the ML tree for the phylogenetic reconstruction revealed that the individuals used in present study is closely related with the previously reported sequences of P. sinensis (AY962573 and MG431983) in p-distance 0.7% and 2.5%.

These data expand the termite mitogenome databases, provide data support for the next phylogenetic and evolutionary studies.

First record of the complete mitochondrial genome of Botyodes diniasalis (Walker, 1859) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae).

Project description:We performed the first sequencing of the complete mitogenome of Botyodes diniasalis by high-throughput sequencing. A circular DNA molecule of 15,219 bp in size, encoding 2 rRNAs, 22 tRNAs, and 13 PCGs, contains a non-coding AT-rich region. The overall nucleotide composition of the genome is A (39.5%), T (41.3%), C (11.3%), and G (7.8%). Phylogenetic analysis based on mitogenomic data suggest that the species B. diniasalis has a close evolutionary relationship with B. principalis in Margaroniini. The complete mitogenome of B. diniasalis will serve as a valuable resource for future studies on evolution, taxonomy, genetic conservation, and utilization of Botyodes.

Project description:The high-throughput sequencing method was used for the first time to determined complete mitochondrial genome of Orgyia postica. The complete mitochondrial genome was a circular molecule with 15,258 bp in full-length, including 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs) and 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs). The nucleotide composition of O. postica mitogenome was A: 37.6%, C: 7.9%, G: 14.8%, T: 39.7%. In addition, the results of the phylogenetic analysis indicate that O. postica had the closest relationship with Laelia suffusa. Our study will contribute to further research on the evolution of Lymantriidae and the identification of larva species.

The complete mitochondrial genome analysis of Locastra muscosalis (Walker, 1866) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) and phylogenetic implications.

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome of Locastra muscosalis (Walker, 1866) was sequenced and characterized in this study, which was the first reported complete mitogenome of the genus Locastra. The mitogenome of L. muscosalis has a total length of 15,177 bp, encompassing 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs), 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs), and an A-T rich region. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that L. muscosalis is closely associated with Orthaga euadrusalis. These data will serve as a valuable foundation for future investigations into the Epipaschiinae and Pyralidae evolutionary history.
