The complete mitochondrial genome of Corythoxestis sunosei (Lepidoptera: Gracillariidae) with phylogenetic consideration.

ABSTRACT: The complete mitogenome of Corythoxestis sunosei (GenBank accession number MT611524) is 15,511 bp in length, and harbors 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs), two ribosomal RNA genes, and an A + T-rich region. The overall base composition is A (40.04%), C (10.64%), G (7.62%), and T (41.70%), showing AT-rich feature (81.74%). ATG, ATT, CGA were initiation codons and TAA and T were termination codons. All the 22 tRNAs displayed a common cloverleaf secondary structure, except for trnS₁ which lacked the dihydrouracil (DHU) arm. Phylogenetic tree based on 13 PCGs showed that C. sunosei has a close phylogenetic relationship with Gibbovalva kobusi and Cameraria ohridella and belongs to Gracillariidae.

Project description:In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of Gibbovalva kobusi was at first sequenced by high-throughput sequencing. As a circular DNA molecule, the complete mitogenome is 15,717?bp in length (GeneBank accession number: MK956103) and consists of 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, 2 ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes, and an AT-rich region. The nucleotide composition is A (41.0%), C (11.6%), G (7.9%), and T (39.5%). Based on the sequences of complete mitogenome from 11 species as ingroups and 3 superfamily Tineoidea species as outgroups, the phylogenetic trees were constructed. The family Gracilariidae as a monophyletic clade is strongly supported by the bootstrap value of 100%.

Complete mitochondrial genome of Palaemonetes sinensis and its phylogenetic consideration.

Project description:The aim of this study was to determine the complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) and the phylogenetic location of the Palaemonetes sinensis. The mitogenome was 15,736 bp in length, containing 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs), 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 2 ribosome RNA genes (rRNAs), and a control region (CR). The overall nucleotide composition is as follows: A, 35.69%; C, 21.66%; G, 12.39%; T, 30.26%. Nine and four PCGs were encoded on the heavy and light strands, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis suggested that P. sinensis shares a close relationship with Palaemon serenus and Palaemon capensis. These findings are helpful for better understanding the phylogenetic relationship among Caridea, as well as investigating the population genetics of P. sinensis in the future.

Characterization of the complete mitochondrial genome of the tea leaf roller Caloptilia theivora (Insecta: Lepidoptera: Gracillariidae).

Project description:The tea leaf roller, Caloptilia theivora (Walsingham), is a serious pest of tea plants. We have obtained and annotated the complete mitochondrial genome of C. theivora (GenBank accession No. MK541932). The entire mt genome is 15,297 bp long with an A + T content of 80.66%. The mt genome of C. theivora encodes all 37 genes that are typically found in animal mt genomes, consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNA, and 22 transfer RNA genes. The gene order is consistent with other moths mt genome in Ditrysia. The control region of this genome is 192 bp long with a high A + T content of 96.35%, and located between the rrnS and trnI genes. Phylogenetic analysis was performed using 13 protein-coding genes among 19 moths showed that C. theivora is closely related to species of Gracillariidae.

Complete mitochondrial genome of Rivularia auriculata (Gastropoda, Viviparidae) with phylogenetic consideration.

Project description:Complete mitochondrial genome sequence of Rivularia auriculata has a circular genome of 16,552 bp, which is comprised 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNA genes, and 22 tRNA genes. The nucleotide composition of the light strand is 43.16% of A, 26.78% of T, 20.18% of C, and 9.88% of G. All genes are encoded on the heavy strand except seven tRNA genes (Met, Tyr, Cys, Trp, Gln, Gly, and Glu) on the light strand. All the protein-coding genes start with ATC initiation codon except ND4 starts with GTG, and two types of inferred termination codons are TAA and TAG. There are 26 intergenic spacers and 4 gene overlaps. It is indicated that R. auriculata has closer genetic relationship with Viviparus chui (88.64% nucleotide sequence identity between them) than the other snail species.

Complete mitochondrial genome of Lepidotrigla alata (Osteichthyes: Triglidae) with phylogenetic consideration.

The genome sequence is 16,512 bp in length, comprising 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes, and one control region. Overall base composition is 26.46% A, 25.05% T, 17.22% G, and 31.27% C. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that L. alata was close to L. guentheri and L. microptera, and each genus in the family Triglidae was monophyletic. This study can provide valuable information for future evolutionary studies on L. alata and Triglidae.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Electrona carlsbergi (Myctophiformes, Myctophidae) with phylogenetic consideration.

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome of Electrona carlsbergi was obtained, which was 18,282 bp in size and including 13 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNAs, 23 transfer RNAs and 1 control region. The overall nucleotide composition is 27.92% for A, 24.66% for T, 30.90% for C and 16.52% for G. Among 23 tRNA genes, 8 tRNAs were encoded on the L-strand. Further, the phylogenetic tree, which based on complete mtDNA sequences, revealed that the E. carlsbergi was genetically closest to species E. antarctica and Krefftichthys anderssoni. This study could provide a basic data for the studies on evolution for low temperature adaptability, stock evaluation and conservation genetics.

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome sequence of Atypus karschi has a circular genome of 14,149 bp, comprised of 13 protein-coding genes, two rRNA genes, 22 tRNA genes, and a control region. The nucleotide composition is 35.82% of T, 35.13% of A, 17.19% of G, and 9.16% of C. Most genes are encoded on the heavy strand except seven tRNA genes (Leu, Phe, His, Pro, Leu, Ile, Gln), four protein-coding genes (nad5, nad4, nad4l, nad1), and 16S-rRNA on the light strand. Most protein-coding genes start with TTG, ATT or ATA initiation codon except cox1, cox1's start codon cannot be determined, and three types of inferred termination codons are TAA, TAG, and an incomplete stop codon. There are four intergenic spacers and 25 gene overlaps. The phylogenetic analysis shows that A. karschi has closer genetic relationship with Cyriopagopus schmidti (von Wirth, 1991) and Phyxioschema suthepium (Raven & Schwendinger, 1898) with high bootstrap support.
