The complete mitochondrial genome of Neptunea arthritica cumingii Crosse, (Gastropoda: Buccinidae).

ABSTRACT: The complete mitochondrial (mt) genome of the Neptune whelk, Neptunea arthritica cumingii, was determined using genome walking techniques in this study. The total length of the mt genome sequence of N. arthritica cumingii was 15 256?bp, including 13 protein-coding genes, 21 transfer RNA genes and 2 ribosomal RNA genes. The overall composition of the mitogenome was estimated to be 30.85% for A, 38.59% for T, 15.15% for C and 15.40% for G, indicating that an A?+?T (69.44%)-rich feature occurs in the N. arthritica cumingii mitogenome. The phylogenetic relationships of 11 mollusc species were constructed based on the complete mtDNA sequences by the neighbour-joining method using MEGA 5.0 software (MEGA Inc., Englewood, NJ).

Project description:In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of Volutharpa perryi has been determined for the first time. The mitogenome is of 15 255 bp in length, including 13 protein-coding genes, two ribosomal RNA genes and 22 transfer RNA genes. The overall base composition is 29.6%, 38.6%, 15.6% and 16.2% for A, T, C and G, respectively. The 13 PCGs of V. perryi and other 12 mollusk species were used for phylogenetic analysis by maximum-likelihood method, and the phylogenetic tree demonstrated the close relationship of V. perryi to species of Buccinoidea. The results are expected to provide useful molecular data for species identification and further phylogenetic studies of genus Volutharpa.

The complete mitochondrial genome is 15 265 bp in length, including 13 protein-coding genes, two rRNA genes and 22 tRNA genes. The total base composition is 30.1% A, 15.8% G, 15.1% C and 39.0%T, with a high AT content of 69.1%. Tree constructed using maximum-likelihood (ML) phylogenetic method, demonstrated that B. pemphigum has a close relationship to Volutharpa perryi clustered in Buccinoidea. First, this complete mitogenome of Buccinum will facilitate the development of new DNA markers for species identification.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Pomacea diffusa (Gastropoda: Ampullariidae).

Project description:In this study, we analyzed the complete mitochondrial genome of the spike-topped apple snail, Pomacea diffusa Blume, 1957 (Gastropoda: Ampullariidae). The mitochondrial genome of P. diffusa was 16,373 bp, consisting 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNAs, and 22 tRNAs and a non-coding region with a 12 bp repeat unit. There were 29 mitochondrial genes of P. diffusa are distributed on the H-strand, and the other eight tRNA genes encoded on the L-strand. The average AT content of 13 protein-coding genes was 68.7%. A phylogenetic analysis showed that there was a close relationship between P. diffusa and invasive apple snail species, Pomacea canaliculata and Pomacea aff. maculata.

The organization of these genes is consistent with that of other stromboidae species. The overall base composition of mitochondrial genome is 30.87% A, 38.99% T, 15.54% G, and 14.60% C, with 69.86% AT. Phylogenetic analysis further implies that L. canarium is placed within the Stromboidae.

The mitogenome is 16 323 bp in length and has a base composition of A (34.7%), T (42.6%), C (12.7%) and G (10.0%). Similar to other Pulmonates, it contains 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNA genes and 22 tRNA genes. To our knowledge, this is the first mitochondrial genome sequenced within the Achatinelloidea superfamily, which contains a high number of endangered species. As such, this mitogenome will be useful in conservation genetics studies.

Complete mitochondrial genome of Rivularia auriculata (Gastropoda, Viviparidae) with phylogenetic consideration.

Project description:Complete mitochondrial genome sequence of Rivularia auriculata has a circular genome of 16,552 bp, which is comprised 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNA genes, and 22 tRNA genes. The nucleotide composition of the light strand is 43.16% of A, 26.78% of T, 20.18% of C, and 9.88% of G. All genes are encoded on the heavy strand except seven tRNA genes (Met, Tyr, Cys, Trp, Gln, Gly, and Glu) on the light strand. All the protein-coding genes start with ATC initiation codon except ND4 starts with GTG, and two types of inferred termination codons are TAA and TAG. There are 26 intergenic spacers and 4 gene overlaps. It is indicated that R. auriculata has closer genetic relationship with Viviparus chui (88.64% nucleotide sequence identity between them) than the other snail species.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Buccinum bayani (Gastropoda: Buccininae) in Korea.

Project description:This study is the first to report the complete 15,262 base pair mitochondrial genome of Buccinum bayani, consisting of 13 protein-coding genes, two ribosomal RNA genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, and a control region (D-loop). The overall base composition of the complete genome is A (29.87%), T (39.11%), G (15.86%), and C (15.16%), with a high AT content of 68.98%. Phylogenetic analysis showed that B. bayani was most closely related to B. undatum. The mitogenome of B. bayani will provide helpful information to further our phylogenetic and evolutionary understanding of the family Buccininae.

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome of the Littorina brevicula was determined in this study. The complete mitogenome (mtDNA) is 16,356 base pairs (bp) in length and contains 13 protein-coding genes, two rRNA genes, and 22 tRNA genes. The control region was divided into two parts. The overall base composition of the genome in descending order was 35.33%-T, 28.41%-A, 20.43%-C, and 15.81%-G. In 13 protein-coding genes, 12 genes start with ATG, except nad5 starts with ATT. For the stop codon, seven genes end with TAA, atp6, nad41, and nad3 end with TAG. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that L. brevicula is close to Naticidea family. This study first determined the complete mitochondrial genome of L. brevicula. It would be a supplement for the genetic analysis of L. brevicula and promote the phylogenetic of Littorinidea.
