Since the industrial revolution, it has been assumed that fossil-fuel combustions dominate increasing nitrogen oxide (NO<sub>x</sub>) emissions. However, it remains uncertain to the actual contribution of the non-fossil fuel NO<sub>x</sub> to total NO<sub>x</sub> emissions.
