A three-dimensional (3D) binodal 3,5-connected net, {[Cu(MTP)(H<sub>2</sub>O)](NO<sub>3</sub>)}<sub>n</sub> (<b>1</b>) with the Schläfli symbol of {3·7<sup>2</sup>}{3<sup>2</sup>·7<sup>5</sup>·8<sup>3</sup>} can be transformed into a two-dimensional (2D) kagóme network with the Schlafli symbol of {3<sup>2</sup>·6<sup>2</sup>·7<sup>2</sup>} in an irreversible single crystal-single crystal (SC-SC) guest-assisted linker exchange process.
