It is unclear whether corticosteroid use in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) improves survival. This study aimed to investigate whether the administration of corticosteroids to patients in the early phase of moderate to severe ARDS is associated with improved outcomes.Methods
We analyzed the data of patients who received corticosteroids within 7 days of the onset of ARDS between June 2006 and December 2015 at a single tertiary teaching hospital. A total of 565 patients admitted with moderate to severe ARDS were eligible.
