Paracoccidioidomycosis is an endemic fungal disease to Latin America caused by at least five species-level genotypes of <i>Paracoccidioides</i>, named <i>P. lutzii</i>, <i>P. brasiliensis</i> (S1a and S1b populations), <i>P. americana</i>, <i>P. restrepiensis</i>, and <i>P. venezuelensis</i>.
