In B lymphocytes, the uracil N-glycosylase (UNG) excises genomic uracils made by activation-induced deaminase (AID), thus underpinning antibody gene diversification and oncogenic chromosomal translocations, but also initiating faithful DNA repair. <i>Ung<sup>-/-</sup></i> mice develop B-cell lymphoma (BCL).
