The highly conserved plant microRNA, miR156, affects plant development, metabolite composition, and stress response. Our previous research revealed the role of miR156 in abiotic stress response in Medicago sativa exerted by downregulating SQUAMOSA-PROMOTER BINDING PROTEIN-LIKE transcription factors.
