The increasing incidence of primary and recurring Clostridioides difficile infections (CDI), which evade current treatment strategies, reflects the changing biology of C difficile. Here, we describe a putative plasmid-mediated mechanism potentially driving decreased sensitivity of C difficile to vancomycin treatment.
