Draft Genome Sequence of Halomonas sp. Strain KAO, a Halophilic Mn(II)-Oxidizing Bacterium.

ABSTRACT: Halomonas sp. strain KAO is an aerobic, Mn(II)-oxidizing, halophilic bacterium. The draft genome of the isolate contains 47 contigs encompassing 3.7?Mb and a GC content of 64.22%. This sequence will provide essential information for future studies of Mn(II) oxidation, particularly under halophilic conditions.

Project description:We report the draft genome sequence of Halomonas sp. strain KM-1, which was isolated in Ikeda City, Osaka, Japan, and which produces the bioplastic poly(3-hydroxybutyrate). The total length of the assembled genome is 4,992,811 bp, and 4,220 coding sequences were predicted within the genome. Genes encoding proteins that are involved in the production and depolymerization of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) were identified. The identification of these genes might be of use in the production of the bioplastic poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) and its monomer 3-hydroxybutyrate.

Project description:We present the draft genome sequence of Halobacillus sp. BBL2006, a moderately halophilic, gram positive bacterium isolated from a sulfidic salt spring in Big Bone Lick State Park, Boone County, Kentucky. The genome of Halobacillus sp. BBL2006 was 3,988,138 bp in length with a GC content of 41.6%. Genome analysis identified 4331 open reading frames including genes for antibiotic resistance and tolerance to heavy metals. The draft genome was deposited at DDBJ/EMBL/GenBank (DNA Databank of Japan/European Molecular Biology Laboratory/Genbank) (JRNX00000000).

Project description:We report the complete, closed, circular genome of Halomonas sp. strain FeN2, a metabolically versatile electrotroph that was isolated from Catalina Harbor sediments. The 4.8-Mb genome contains 4,286 protein-coding genes and has complete glycolytic, tricarboxylic acid, glyoxylate, pentose phosphate, and reductive pentose phosphate pathways. FeN2 also contains genes for aerobic and anaerobic (denitrification) respiration.
