Phototropins are plasma membrane-associated photoreceptors of blue light and UV-A/B radiation. The <i>Arabidopsis thaliana</i> genome encodes two phototropins, <i>PHOT1</i> and <i>PHOT2</i>, that mediate phototropism, chloroplast positioning, and stomatal opening.
