Complete and Circularized Bacterial Genome Sequence of Gordonia sp. Strain X0973.

ABSTRACT: Gordonia sp. strain X0973 is a Gram-positive, weakly acid-fast, aerobic actinomycete obtained from a human abscess with Gordonia araii NBRC 100433^T as its closest phylogenetic neighbor. Here, we report using Illumina MiSeq and PacBio reads to assemble the complete and circular genome sequence of 3.75 Mbp with 3,601 predicted coding sequences.

Project description:Gordonia bronchialis Tsukamura 1971 is the type species of the genus. G. bronchialis is a human-pathogenic organism that has been isolated from a large variety of human tissues. Here we describe the features of this organism, together with the complete genome sequence and annotation. This is the first completed genome sequence of the family Gordoniaceae. The 5,290,012 bp long genome with its 4,944 protein-coding and 55 RNA genes is part of the Genomic Encyclopedia of Bacteria and Archaea project.

Project description:Gordonia ajoucoccus strain A2, isolated from crude oil-contaminated soils, synthesizes yellow keto-γ-carotene from various n-alkanes as the sole carbon source. Its complete genome sequence consists of a single circular chromosome (5,090,254 bp, 67.3% G+C content). Seven putative genes were identified supporting the proposed keto-γ-carotene pathway of G. ajoucoccus A2.

Complete Genome Sequences of 38 Gordonia sp. Bacteriophages.

Project description:We report here the genome sequences of 38 newly isolated bacteriophages using Gordonia terrae 3612 (ATCC 25594) and Gordonia neofelifaecis NRRL59395 as bacterial hosts. All of the phages are double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) tail phages with siphoviral morphologies, with genome sizes ranging from 17,118 bp to 93,843 bp and spanning considerable nucleotide sequence diversity.

Project description:We report the whole-genome sequence of Gordonia sp. strain YY1, which was isolated from the surface soil in an explosive-contaminated site in Israel and cultivated with hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine, i.e., royal demolition explosive (RDX), as a nitrogen source. This genome sequence will improve our understanding of the genes for RDX degradation. In addition, this research will reveal metabolic pathways in order to develop new bioremediation methods for polluted soil and groundwater.
