Determining the molecular properties of neurons is essential to understand their development, function and evolution. Using Targeted DamID (TaDa), we characterize RNA polymerase II occupancy and chromatin accessibility in selected <i>Ionotropic receptor</i> (<i>Ir</i>)-expressing olfactory sensory neurons in <i>Drosophila</i>.
