The complete chloroplast genome sequence of Duranta erecta (Verbenaceae).

ABSTRACT: In this study, the complete chloroplast (cp) genome of Duranta erecta was assembled using Illumina sequencing data. The complete cp genome is 149,869 bp in length, including a pair of invert repeats (IRA and IRB) regions of 22,839 bp, large single-copy (LSC) region of 86,201 bp, and small single-copy (SSC) region of 17,990 bp. The G + C content of this cp genome was 38.26%. A total of 128 genes were predicted in the genome, including 83 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes, and eight rRNA genes. Phylogenetic analysis confirmed the phylogenetic relationship between D. erecta and other representative species of Verbenaceae.

In this study, The total genome size is 134,511 bp in length and demonstrates a typical quadripartite structure containing a large single copy (LSC, 95,227 bp) and a small single copy (SSC, 12,306 bp), separated by a pair of inverted repeats (IRa, IRb) of 13,489 bp. The G + C content of this chloroplast genome was 38.76%. Gene annotation analysis identified 130 genes including 84 protein-coding genes, 38 transfer RNA, and 8 ribosomal RNA genes. The maximum-likelihood phylogenetic analysis result showed that E. erecta was closely related to O. sativa in the phylogenetic relationship.

The complete chloroplast genome of Lantana camara L. (Verbenaceae).

Project description:In this study, we sequenced, assembled and reported the complete chloroplast genome of Lantana camara an important medicinal plant for the first time. The genome is circular and quadripartite in structure; it has a length of 154,388 bp, 39.2% GC content and harbored 137 genes including 90 protein-coding genes, 39 tRNAs, and 8 rRNAs. The genome contained a large single-copy of 85,198 bp and a small single-copy of 17,249 bp separated by a pair of inverted repeat regions. The phylogenetic relationship showed a close relationship between L. camara and Lippia origanoides. The plastome sequence reported in this study will help for future research on the species and evolutionary studies of Verbenaceae.

The complete chloroplast genome sequence of Thunbergia erecta (Benth.) T. Anders. (Acanthaceae).

Project description:Thunbergia erecta (Benth.) T. Anders. is an upright shrub species of Acanthaceae with great ecological and economical values. In this paper, we explored the complete chloroplast genome sequence of T. erecta using next generation sequencing to provide genomic resources that could help to promote its conservation. The genome of T. erecta is 152,202 bp in length, containing a large single-copy region of 84,232 bp, and a small single-copy region of 17,656 bp. It encodes a total of 131 genes, including 8 rRNA genes, 37 tRNA genes, 84 protein-coding genes and 2 pseudo genes. The GC content of T. erecta genome is 38.47%. The phylogenetic analysis suggests that it was closely related to Avicennia marina in Acanthaceae. In addition, we found that T. erecta appeared late clade in the whole family while outgroups plants appeared even later. T. erecta is morphologically similar to other plants in Acanthaceae, but is genetically closed to the outgroup species.

The complete chloroplast genome of Mexican marigold (Tagetes erecta L., Asteraceae).

Project description:Tagetes erecta is an important ornamental and medicinal plant indigenous to Mexico and Guatemala. The complete chloroplast genome of T. erecta was newly sequenced in this study. The total chloropalst genome size of T. erecta was 152,055 bp. In total, 123 genes were indetified, including 79 protein-coding genes, 8 rRNA genes, and 37 tRNA genes. Twelve genes are containing introns (ycf3 and clpP contained two introns). The overall GC content of this genome was 37.4%. A further phylogenomic analysis of Asteraceae, including 23 taxa, was conducted for the placement of genus Tagetes. The complete plastome of T. erecta will provide a valuable resource for further genetic conservation, evolution, and molecular breading studies in Asteraceae.

Project description:Phyla nodiflora (Linnaeus) Greene (1899) is a perennial creeping herb belonging to the family Verbenaceae. It has numerous pharmacological properties, including anti-dandruff, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-melanogenesis, anti-hypertensive, and anti-hyperuricemic properties. We generated the complete chloroplast genome sequence of P. nodiflora using Illumina paired-end sequencing data. The P. nodiflora chloroplast genome is 154,341 bp in length, containing a large single copy (LSC) region of 85,185 bp and a small single copy (SSC) region of 17,222 bp, separated by a pair of inverted repeats (IRs) of 25,967 bp. The genome contained 128 genes, including 86 protein-coding, 34 tRNA, and eight rRNA genes. Six genes had one intron, one gene had two introns, and the others did not have an intron. Overall GC content of the chloroplast genome was 39%, while those of LSC, SSC, and IR regions were 38.2%, 33.7%, and 44%, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis of the chloroplast genome revealed that P. nodiflora is closely related to the other species from Verbenaceae.
