A highly efficient, low-cost and environmentally friendly photocathode with long-term stability is the goal of practical solar hydrogen evolution applications. Here, we found that the Cu<sub>3</sub>BiS<sub>3</sub> film-based photocathode meets the abovementioned requirements.
