The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau endemic Chinese mountain cat has a controversial taxonomic status, whether it is a true species or a wildcat (<i>Felis silvestris</i>) subspecies and whether it has contributed to cat (<i>F. s. catus</i>) domestication in East Asia.
